Hajj ki Dua

Are you going to Hajj or Umrah? Are you travelling to Makkah? Yes, then You should remember one thing before leaving. Your dua checklist is a must-have for any visitor. Hajj and Umrah are times to ask Allah whatever you desire in this world and the afterlife.

One of the most critical aspects of Hajj is supplication or dua. Dua is a prayer made to Allah (SWT) with humbleness and sincerity. Several duas are recommended to be recited during the Hajj pilgrimage, and these duas hold great importance in the hearts of the pilgrims.

Here are some of the essential duas that are recommended to be recited during Hajj:

Dua when you start travelling

Dua for Beginning Ihram

Once you enter the state of Ihram, first perform two rakes of Sunnat-ul Ihram. Then, recite the following dua :

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ الْحَجَّ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِيْ وَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنِّيْ

 Allauhumma innee uridul hajj; fayassir haa li wa taqaubalahaa minnee.

Translation: O Allah! I intend to perform Hajj. Make it easy for me and accept it.

Talbiyah

After Ihram dua, recite the Talbiyah.

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ.

Labbaika Allahumma Labbaik, Labbaika la sharika laka labbaik. Innal-hamda wan-ni’mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak

Translation: Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, there is no partner for You, here I am. Verily, all praise, blessings, and dominion are Yours, and You have no partner.

Dua When first seeing the Kaabah

“When first seeing the Kaabah, it is recommended to perform dua.”

الَّلهُمَّ زِدْ هّذَا البَيْتَ تَشْرِيفاً وَتَعْظِيماً وَتَكْرِيماً وَمَهَابَةً، وَزِدْ مَن شَرَّفَهُ وَكَرَّمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّهُ أَو اعتَمَرَهُ تَشرِيفاً وَتَكرِيماً وَتَعظِيماً وَبِرّاً

Allahumma zid hadha-l-bayta tashrifan wa taziman wa takriman wa mahabah, wa zid man sharrafahu wa karramahu mimman hajjahu aw ii ‘tamarahu tashrifan wa takriman wa ta’ziman wa birra.

Translation: Allah, increase this House in honour, esteem, respect and reverence. And grow those who honour and respect it, those who perform Hajj or Umrah, in distinction, care, affection and purity.

Dua for Tawaf

رَبَّنَا اتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar

Translation:Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.

This dua is a comprehensive supplication covering all aspects of a Muslim’s life. It is recommended to be recited during Tawaf (circumambulation around the Kaaba) and throughout the Hajj journey.

Dua recite at Maqam-e-Ibrahim

“وَٱتَّخِذُواْ مِن مَّقَامِ إِبرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى”

waٱtakhidhuu mim maqam ‘ibrahim musalla

Translation: And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer.

Dua for climbing Safa

Start from Safa and climb it until it overlooks the Kaaba. Then faced him and said:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ، أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ، وَهَزَمَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in Qadeer, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu ilahaahu, ‘anjaza wa’dahu, wa nasara ‘abdahu, wa hazamal ‘ahzaaba wahdahu.

Translation: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, who has no partner, his is the dominion and his is the praise, and he is able to do all things . none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, he fulfilled his promise, he aided his slave, and he alone defeated confederates.

 الله أكبر

Allahu Akbar

Translation: Allah is [the] greatest.

Remember that these duas are recommended and hold substantial value during the Hajj pilgrimage. However, Muslims are encouraged to commit to personal supplication, seek forgiveness, and express their needs and desires to Allah throughout the Hajj.

Here are some dua recited during the hajj journey for a humble request for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy.

1. اللهم إني أسألك العافية

Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘afiyah

Translation: O Allah, I ask You for good health

 This dua is recited by the pilgrims when they reach the Miqat (the boundary where the state of Ihram begins), and it is a request to Allah for protection and good health during the Hajj journey.

2. اللهم إني ظلمت نفسي ظلمًا كثيرًا ولا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت، فاغفر لي مغفرةً من عندك وارحمني، إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم

Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kathiran wa la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta faghfirli maghfiratan min ‘indika war-hamni innaka antal-ghafurur-rahim

Translation: O Allah! I have considerably wronged myself. There is none to forgive the sins but You. So grant me pardon and have mercy on me. You are the Most Forgiving,

This Dua is a confession of one’s sins and a request for Allah’s forgiveness. It is recommended to be recited throughout the Hajj journey.

3. ربِّ اغفر وارحم وأنت خير الراحمين

Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur-rahimin

Translation: Say, My Lord! Forgive and have mercy; You are the best of those who show mercy.

This dua is a humble request for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy and is recommended to be recited throughout the Hajj journey.

4. لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير

 La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shai’in qadir

Translation: There is no god but Allah, alone, without a partner. He is the sovereignty, and He is the praise, and He has power over everything.

5. اللهم إني أسألك الجنة وأعوذ بك من النار

 Allahumma inni as’aluka al-jannah wa a’udhu bika min an-nar

Translation: Oh Allah, I ask for paradise and protection from the fire.

This dua is a supplication seeking Allah’s mercy and protection from the punishment of Hellfire. It is recommended to be recited throughout the Hajj journey.

6. اللهم ربنا آتنا من لدنك رحمةً وهيئ لنا من أمرنا رشدًا

Allahumma rabbana atina mil-ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi lana min amrina rashada

Translation: Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate our affair in the right way.

This dua requests Allah’s guidance and mercy throughout the Hajj journey and in all aspects of life.

7. اللهم إني أعوذ بك من علمٍ لا ينفع، ومن قلبٍ لا يخشع، ومن نفسٍ لا تشبع، ومن دعوةٍ لا يستجاب لها

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa’u, wa min qalbin la yakhsha’u, wa min nafsin la tashba’u, wa min da’watin la yustajabu laha

 Translation: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge which does not benefit, from a heart that does not consider the fear (of Allah), from a soul that is not satisfied and the Dua that is not answered.

This dua is a plea for beneficial knowledge, a heart filled with fear of Allah, contentment, and accepted prayers.

 8. اللهم ربَّنا أفرغ علينا صبرًا وثبت أقدامنا وانصرنا على القوم الكافرين

Allahumma rabbana affright ‘Alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wa ansurna ‘ala al-qawmi alkafireen

Translation: O Allah, our Lord, pour upon us patience, keep our feet firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” It is a supplication for strength, steadfastness, and success against those who oppose the truth.

Here is one most powerful Dua for forgiveness that must be recited during Hajj pilgrims.

May Allah accept the prayers and Dua’s of all the pilgrims and grant them a blessed and accepted Hajj.
